Flick's Barça host Getafe (18:30) with 21 points from 21 and 31 goals: a win equals the club's best-ever league start from 2013-14. What it means for this week's quiniela.

Barça vs Getafe today is not just another round-8 fixture in LaLiga. Hansi Flick's Barcelona host Getafe at the Spotify Camp Nou this Saturday, 10 October, at 18:30 Spanish time with a perfect 21 points from 21, and one more win would make it eight out of eight. That would equal the best league start in the club's history, set by Tata Martino's side in 2013-14. It is also match 3 on this week's quiniela coupon (jornada 12 of 2026), so a lot of Spanish pools are riding on this afternoon.

Here is the record at stake, how the leaders look after the international break, what history says about Getafe's trips to Barcelona, and how to handle the game in your predictions.

Barça vs Getafe today: kick-off time and what's at stake

What time is Barcelona vs Getafe today? The LaLiga round-8 game kicks off on Saturday 10 October 2026 at 18:30 CEST (17:30 BST) at the Spotify Camp Nou. It is Barça's first match after the international break and match 3 on this week's quiniela coupon.

Barça top the table on 21 points, five clear of Atlético Madrid and Real Betis (16) and six ahead of Real Madrid (15), who close the night at home to Villarreal. A win today means going to bed with at least a five-point cushion and a share of a club record. Dropping points would reopen a title race that currently looks like a procession.

There are individual milestones too. The team have won 22 home league games in a row and are chasing a 23rd. According to the club's own preview, Raphinha could match Neymar's 186 appearances in a Barça shirt, Jules Koundé is level with Éric Abidal (193) as the Frenchman with the most games in the club's history, and Gerard Martín could reach his century.

Eight from eight: chasing Tata Martino's record

Only one Barcelona side has ever won the first eight games of a league season: Gerardo Martino's in 2013-14. That team, with Messi and a newly arrived Neymar, opened with a 7-0 thrashing of Levante and then won at Málaga, at Mestalla, at home to Sevilla, at Rayo, at home to Real Sociedad, at Almería and at home to Valladolid. The run finally ended in round nine with a goalless draw at Osasuna.

The comparison with Flick's team is striking. Martino's Barça scored 28 goals in their first eight matches. This one already has 31 in just seven, more than four a game, although they have conceded slightly more: seven, against the six that side let in over eight rounds.

OpponentResult (Barça score first)
Elche5-0
Athletic Club2-0
Rayo Vallecano5-2
Valencia5-0
Levante4-2
Racing Santander7-2
Sevilla3-1
Total (7 games)31-7

A word of caution before anyone books the parade: that perfect 2013-14 start did not end with a trophy. Diego Simeone's Atlético won the league on the final day, with a draw at the Camp Nou of all places. Records set in September and October are fun, but titles are won in May.

How Barça look after the break

Fitness is the big unknown. More than half the squad spent three weeks away with their national teams, many of them playing four games, while club football stood still. Flick has to manage minutes knowing the schedule is about to get relentless.

  • Raphinha, LaLiga's top scorer with 12 goals, was a doubt: several outlets reported that two days out he still had not trained with the group and was being treated for swelling. The club are wary of repeating last season's setback, which cost him 58 days.
  • If the Brazilian sits this one out, Gabriel Jesus looks set for a bigger role up front.
  • The Spain internationals were back in full training during the week.
  • Official line-ups drop roughly an hour before kick-off, so it pays to wait if you are filling in your picks late.

Barcelona vs Getafe: never a home defeat

History is firmly on one side. According to FC Barcelona's figures, Getafe have visited Barça 21 times in the league and never won: 17 home wins and 4 draws. Flick's side also come in on an eight-game home winning streak against them.

That does not make it a formality. José Bordalás's Getafe are exactly the kind of opponent that frustrates possession teams: a low block, relentless intensity, tactical fouls and set pieces. Barça's own preview called them a very tough nut to crack. And those four draws Getafe have taken away from Barcelona are precisely the kind of result that wrecks a coupon.

Quiniela jornada 12 2026: is a banker '1' the right call?

On this week's coupon, Barcelona vs Getafe is match 3, sandwiched between Alavés vs Atlético and Elche vs Celta. With a leader that has won everything and a spotless home record in the fixture, the temptation is obvious: write down a 1 and move on. More often than not, that is the right call. But it is worth thinking through a few things first:

  1. What everyone else will do. A 1 this obvious will be on almost every coupon, so getting it right does not set you apart. Prizes are won on the games other people get wrong.
  2. Where to spend your doubles. If you play with doubles or trebles, they usually earn more on genuinely open games such as Racing vs Valencia or Levante vs Sevilla than on Barça vs Getafe.
  3. The post-break factor. The first game after an international window is often scrappier than expected. If you want cover, the 1X double is the logical hedge here, not the 2.
  4. The Pleno al 15. This week's tie-breaker is Real Madrid vs Villarreal at 21:00, so Barça's result could shape the mood Madrid take into their own game.

All 15 fixtures, with kick-off times and live scores, are on the jornada 12 page, and if this is your first pool, how to play explains the 1X2, doubles and the Pleno al 15.

What eight from eight would mean

Beating Getafe brings no bonus points and no silverware, but it would send a message: the reigning champions opening their title defence by matching the best start in club history, with the league's most prolific attack and daylight between them and the chasing pack. It would also leave them one step from somewhere no Barça side has ever been: nine from nine.

And if you fancy a bit more riding on this afternoon's game, you can set up a prediction league with friends on quiniPrats: everyone predicts the round, the table updates live as the goals go in, and whoever gets the most right has bragging rights on Monday. It is free and spreadsheet-free; just football and a bit of friendly rivalry.
